History: Our school was named after James Fannin (1814-1836), a Texas Revolutionary. James Fannin came to Texas in 1834 and commanded the Texas army at the Battle of Concepción in October 1835. In early 1836 Fannin was stationed in Goliad with 400 soldiers. Fannin and his troops were captured by General Urrea on March 20 and executed, on the order of Santa Anna, on March 27. “Remember Goliad” became a Texas battle cry.
Fannin is a very special school within Bryan ISD. Opening in 1880, we are the site of the very first school in Bryan. Since then there have been lots of changes in education, but it is important that we continue to honor our history and heritage.
